I Remember...A Labyrinth of Old Toys
Penned by a group of first-year students at DePaul University, this maze of memoirs weaves through stories of childhood friends painting in the Grecian mausoleum at their local cemetery, of the terrifying experience of being in a brutal earthquake in China, and of a child's forbidden love for an old dress stuffed away in his family's basement. Another student writes of her many reactions to her father's arrest for allegedly molesting children, forming her take around the different houses her family lived in-- happily at first, and then more tragically. As one student tells us, "Writing is a way of expressing yourself when your chest is aching... when there is something so beautiful you do not want your words to fly from your mouth into oblivion, never to be remembered."get.
