Eat Your Words
Over the course of two weeks this summer, sixteen middle school students met at 826CHI to explore the deliciousness of the written word at our Middle School Writers Camp, entitled Eat Your Words.
We considered how food shapes our identity, sampled a five-course meal from a Michelin-starred restaurant, wrote menu descriptions for aliens, discussed major food-related issues affecting the world today, and practiced using "golden details" all along the way.
To our reader: grab a snack and dive in. We hope these young authors' words and reflections make you roll with laughter, fondly recall your own moments around the table with loved ones, and maybe even write up your very own tasting notes for aliens.
